Wace and Layamon
Wace adapted Geoffrey of Monmouth's "Brut" in French, opening the eyes of the continent to Arthurian romance; and Layamon based his English alliterative poem on Wace's work. In the process, interesting additions to the story were made, i.e. the Round Table.Here's the full story. . .Click Here!

Wace was a 12th century Isle of Jersey-born cleric whose long poem, Roman de Brut, based on Geoffrey, was published c.1155. He dedicated his work to Eleanor of Aquitaine, the wife of Henry II. . .Read it online!
