About the Club
The British History Club (BHC) is an online enterprise of Educational Resources Group, LLC, a privately held, non-profit company based in Newark, Delaware, USA, and headed by Rod Hampton, the company's creator and Managing Director. Hampton is a founding member of "Britannia.com" (online since April, 1996), and directed the development and positioning of that site's top-ranked and award-winning History Department, which set the standard for internet history-content sites. The BHC was created to be a separate, independent entity which would raise the bar even higher.

November 20, 2004, marked the BHC's first anniversary, online. The first year was about getting started, building a membership base, developing business infrastructure and familiarizing ourselves with a new kind of content creation and delivery, all the while enjoying the temporary safe haven provided by Britannia. Our second year will see us in an independent, permanent, online home under our own domain name, www.britishhistoryclub.com (launch is scheduled for 12/31/04).

The future goal of the BHC is to become the internet's most authoritative, most comprehensive, most visually attractive and most rewarding venue for studying and enjoying British History. Our content will be targeted primarily to students, teachers, libraries and homeschoolers, but will also be useful for travelers, writers, researchers, heritage/history site webmasters and anyone who just likes history. In order to achieve this goal, however, significant financial resources and human expertise must be applied over a sufficient amount of time. We hope to enlist the support of scholars, experts, students and enthusiasts to help with the many projects on-going at any given moment and of private investors, foundations, corporations and interested organizations to help cover the costs involved (if you are any one of these and would like to help, please Contact Us). Membership fees go into the general fund and help to defray web hosting and administrative costs.

As you can imagine, the BHC is very much a work in progress, and we are definitely committed to continuing it. We hope to do more than just aggregate facts and present them in a vacuum - many sites already do that. Rather, we will try to enrich your understanding of the times, people and events of British History in a unique way. The first step toward this goal is the launch of our new Knowledge Navigator, a lo-tech but hi-convenience collection of essential, at-your-fingertips information resources, designed to add dimension and understanding to your studies and to be there when you need them. Many other improvements are envisioned and will be brought online as time and resources permit.
